While there are still few native islanders residing on Daufuskie Island, most of the permanent residents are former vacationers who fell in love with the relaxed pace, friendly vibe, and stunning scenery found here. Yes! Daufuskie Island is a very pet friendly community but if you’re renting a condo or vacation home, check with the rental company on their pet policy. Pets are allowed at the outdoor areas of the island’s three restaurants. Because of the abundance of wildlife, please keep your pet on a leash for their safety when exploring the island. Beaufort county code states that NO DOGS on the beach AT ALL from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day and must be on a leash or strict voice control at all other times.
Yes, there are many options for daytrips to Daufuskie Island. After you schedule your transportation to the island you can plan a relaxing day on the beach, take in some kayaking, follow along on a guided tour of the island, or simply just wander around exploring.
Plan ahead! Make sure you have transportation to and from the Island, as well as transportation once you arrive. The primary form of transportation on the island is a golf cart, which you can rent through a local tour operator prior to arrival.
