As the temperatures dip and the leaves begin to turn, there’s no better time than Fall for a getaway to one of South Carolina’s most remote islands—Daufuskie!

Take a Walk.
Stroll along one of the Island’s many dirt roads that meander through its diverse landscape. Along the way, you may get lucky enough to spot some local wildlife such as deer, wild boars, eagles and dolphins. You can also explore some of Daufuskie’s historical sites, such as the ruins of the old Haig Point Lighthouse or tabby walls that are scattered throughout.

While the water might be a little too cold for swimming this time of year, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a great beach day. Daufuskie offers 3 miles of pristine sand beaches, all of which are open to the public. Here’s a list of what you’ll need, while you dine al fresco on the shores of Daufuskie.
- Shade and wind protection.
- A beach mat or waterproof picnic blanket.
- If you don’t want to sit on the sand, a folding beach table and chairs.
- A picnic set – preferably an insulated picnic basket or bag to keep items cool.
- Drinks cooler.
- Music and light if staying late.
- Picnic food accessories – plates, napkins, etc.
- Sunscreen and bug spray.
